As you may recall in a post I wrote a few weeks back, I was invited by Lush Cambridge to come and have a chat about hair and skin care.
I’ve had a good few weeks of properly trying out some of the samples they sent me on my way with! There have been some absolute winners and only one product that didn’t work well on me.
Skin care wise I’m absolutely still in love with the Imperialis moisturiser! It sinks in beautifully, moisturising my face and neck but also stops my makeup slipping around! As it’s got no SPF in it I will repurchase this come winter.
I was also given a solid serum to try called Full of Grace. I have simply been rubbing a little between my fingers to melt then smoothing on my face. Unfortunately this is too heavy for me but would suit someone with fairly dry skin. It’s packed with Murumuru butter which is produced from a plant native to Brazil and it’s highly moisturing!
I’ve also enjoyed using H’suan Wen Hua hair moisturiser! Try saying that drunk! 😉
It’s really good for the dry ends to my hair because you put this on dry hair, leave for 20 mins (treat yourself, have a cup of tea and a Jaffa cake!), then shampoo out! Simple!
Hair then doesn’t get stripped of all moisture leaving softer locks!
I was also impressed with the Coconutty solid shampoo that is Trichomania! It’s rich and delicious smelling! I just rub it on to wet hair and lather away! Heavenly!
I also purchased (not a free sample) a Charity Pot! You can read about it in my previous post!
I started reviewing it here then realised the charity element to some Lush products needed and indeed deserved a post of their own!
So I wrote that and decided to publish this one a bit later!
One product that I picked up on my previous trip to Lush has amazed me! This one I actually purchased myself and was not a sample.
It’s the Charity Pot!
Every single penny goes to charity and I think the fox on the tub tugged at my heart!
Please check out the amazing charity pot here!
Not only is it moisturising and leaves me smelling like chocolate it’s the best reason I’ve ever seen to spend your money! It supports so many worthy but less well known charities!
Next on my Lush list to buy is the May Day bath bomb shaped like a badger! These sweet little bombs are helping to support a charity called the Save Me Trust set up by Doctor Brian May.
This charity aims to help save badgers from ineffective culls and to set up vaccination against bovine TB instead!
Go get one and help not only the badgers but cattle too!

I, along with many other folks, am a huge Lush fan!
I love their delicious bath bombs and dusting powders but I have never really strayed from these products.
I’m very very guilty of avoiding all sale staff and diving for a bath bomb then speeding toward the tills before exiting at high speed on many a rushed lunch break.
So I was exited about being invited by my local Lush store in Cambridge to come and talk about hair care and skin care!
I shall be talking mainly about the products that have jumped out from the get go but will be doing another post when I’ve given the products a good chance to work their magic.
On arrival I was greeted by the lovely James who wasted no time in making me feel at ease and we set to talking about my hair!
My hair is shocking! Asides from the first signs that I’m turning into a Wizard (one or two sneaky greys!) I have dry ends, a huge tangly, curly mid section and flat roots! Yikes! It takes a massive amount of taming!
James started suggesting different products to address my hair issues, he also told me a little bit about the history of each product and their properties! Boy does he know his stuff! 🙂
I was sent away with many products to try but the outstanding favourites of mine so far are the Roots hair treatment and the Fairly Traded Honey shampoo.
The Roots hair treatment looks like a delicious, mousse like shimmering whip for the hair! It smells divine thanks to neroli, grapefruit and sweet orange oil. It uses olive oil and honey to condition plus mint to stimulate!
I applied to my roots and massaged it in and I immediately felt it getting to work! It felt tingly and the scent completely woke me up! 🙂
I absolutely loved using this, in fact my most favourite thing to do now is to pop this on my hair and use the Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask at the same time! Sooooo divine!
The Roots treatment has in fact left me with less flat roots and carries on tingling after it’s been rinsed away!
I love the Fairly Traded Honey shampoo because it smells sooooo scrummy and left my hair clean, soft and divinely scented! It looks like you’re pouring pure honey on your hair too! 🙂
Because it contains honey and beeswax it gives my tangly curly mane a shine hit and doesn’t dry it out! 🙂
I also spoke to Katy who took me through skin care!
My two favourite products so far are Catastrophe Cosmetic fresh face mask which is made with fresh blueberries and Imperialis Moisturiser!
The mask as I have said already is just heavenly to wear whilst also using the Roots hair treatment!
I LOVED this moisturiser from first application! It sinks in quickly and I was amazed because it has kept my face matte underneath my foundation all day! If it had SPF then this would be the best ever moisturiser, but my foundation has that in so it’s not too much of a problem! I’m deffo repurchasing this!
Lush is also rather good to the planet and doesn’t harm furry little critters! 🙂
If you like me tend to stick to the bath bombs then you should deffo grab a member of staff and ask them about the other products because they are friendly, know their products and are passionate about what they do! Both James and Katy were proud of working for Lush and that comes across when you speak to them, that in turn makes me confident in their advice!
Check out their website!
Someone whispered in my ear about beauty boxes just over a year ago and I got rather excited!
They told me they were like Graze boxes but with beauty products instead! Whoop! 🙂
I went through a few months of Glossy boxes and She Said Beauty boxes! They were ok but I got bored after a while!
Anyhow I saw on a couple of other blogs recently that people had been getting Love Me Beauty boxes and when I saw on my pals blog Bookishness the contents of the March box I then had to purchase one!
I was not disappointed!
Inside was a full size Nip + Fab Viper Venom Eye Fix! That’s about £15 right there! It’s a cooling, roller ball eye gel! It says it targets dark circles and fine lines!
It feels awesome to apply, especially after a long day at work! 🙂
There was also a full size peppermint foot stick called Deep stick that moisturises and cools!
A mini Blanx toothpaste, ideal for travel I say! A Murad pomegranate face mask sachet was also included and I LOVE face masks!
There was a set of false eyelashes that scare me a bit! But I’ll give anything a try once!
I had a bath with the bath salts included, which smelt delish and were very relaxing in my bath! The relaxation ended abruptly through, when the large dried flowers that were floating in the bath scared me!
I was getting dried and I though for a nano second that I had a dead moth stuck to me! Cue flapping and full length bath skid!
It was only a soggy flower!
Rather impressed with all of that for a tenner!
I purchased these cute Easter treats from Lush! Easier on the old waist line I feel than a chocolate egg! Although if the Mr is reading this I still want a big chocolate egg!
The egg one is a bath bomb that smells like Snow Fairy! Nom! The cute little bunny is a bubble bar that smells like the Creamy Candy bubble bar! Also Nom!
Lastly here are few make up treats I got the other day! I thought I would give the Collection concealer a go after reading many a blogs claims of its magical abilities and high coverage! No one was lying, it’s really good for a cheap concealer and covers up my dark circles a treat!
Same goes for the Rimmel powders super power of not letting me have a shiny face! Epically cheap and it works!
The 2true cheek and lip stain is a product that I tried once on a whim and loved it! It’s stupidly cheap and gives a lovely cheek glow and tints the lips to perfection! I like to use this in the summer instead of powder blush! It’s less than £2 in Superdrug!
Lastly is the 17 eyebrow pencil from Boots! I was NOT impressed! I got this because my usual Maybelline brow pencil hasn’t been in stock for ages and I’d run out!
This was hard to apply and I looked like I had a couple of pet caterpillars upon my brow for the day! Yikes!
I thought I would share a few of my absolute fave beauty products that I use on a regular basis!
They are all relatively affordable and they all work really well!
So to start here are my absolute body essentials!
I use exfoliating gloves everyday in the bath. They are very cheap, costing roughly £1.50.
You’ll never need expensive body scrubs if you use these everyday!
I always follow my bath with the Body Shop Miracle Oil in Cocoa Butter, it sinks in quickly thanks to its dry oil like consistency. I use it on the ends of my hair too!
I follow this up with Lush Silky Underwear Dusting powder and the Body shop Vanilla perfume!
All three help me smell like a chocolate cake! 🙂
Next up are the face items!
I’ve been using L’Oreal Revitalift for about six months now and it has cured my wintery dry patches on my face!
I have used Max Factor Miracle Touch foundation in Blushing Beige for about five years and have not found one better yet! It’s solid but turns to liquid on the sponge applicator provided in the compact!
This Carmex lip balm is the only one I have ever finished! I normally get bored or lose them but I LOVE this one! I use it instead of lip stick/gloss for everyday use because it has a lovely berry tint! You can also get this in clear and pink colours!
I will use any shampoo and conditioner within reason but I always insist on V05 weather resistant hairspray! It just stops me turning into a frizzy nightmare!
I tend to wash my hair every two to three days and this Girlz Only shampoo refreshes me nicely between shampoos!
I picked it up on a whim because it was cheap but it has turned into a fave!
I was introduced to the Leighton Denny Crystal nail file about a year ago and haven’t looked back!
It was £12.50 from Boots but it has a whopping 25 year guarantee!
I’ll never need to buy another file again!
Seche Vite top coat is amazing because it cuts down drying time of polish drastically! It’s also crystal clear!
The Superdrug Cuticle oil was a very recent find and I was pleased to see that Vogue had given it a jolly good rating! Here’s my review of it!
I love this super thick hand cream from L’Occitane hand cream! It’s expensive at £19 but it will last for absolutely ever! So pounds per use is brilliant! 🙂
Hope you enjoyed my fave products!
Let me know what yours are!
