Happy Valentines Day lovely people!
The Emma Hardie Amazing Face Natural Lift & Sculpt Hydrating & Firming Moisturiser contains essential oils such as lavender, geranium, and peppermint! This makes it smell amazing and makes it feel like it’s doing something!
It has a cold butter like feel when scooping out of the pot but it melts on contact with the skin and sinks in almost immediately! It definitely moisturises well but it’s too much for my skin making it feel sensitive and a wee bit red after using it! It was ok at first but by day three I was looking like I was blushing badly!
This makes me sad because I have fallen in love with the smell and the fact that it does a good job but alas those divine oils are too much for moi! 😦
So with my big old birthday party coming up I haven’t had many spare pennies to buy frivolous and in my mind essential things I MUST have beauty wise!
Here is my list of treats that I will be treating mine own self to when payday comes a knocking!
It’s going to be a big birthday (30!!!) so I feel the need to make these posh purchases now I’m going to be a proper grown up and all that!
I absolutely have to have Essie is Bahama Mama! Not very summery but stunning none the less! Get it here!
I get face shine of the worst kind and have heard that this Max Factor Primer is the business for those kind of issues! Snatch it up here!
I got a mini version of the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish in my Birchbox!
What a little peach of a product it is! I need a bigger one!
On sale here!
As you may recall in a post I wrote a few weeks back, I was invited by Lush Cambridge to come and have a chat about hair and skin care.
I’ve had a good few weeks of properly trying out some of the samples they sent me on my way with! There have been some absolute winners and only one product that didn’t work well on me.
Skin care wise I’m absolutely still in love with the Imperialis moisturiser! It sinks in beautifully, moisturising my face and neck but also stops my makeup slipping around! As it’s got no SPF in it I will repurchase this come winter.
I was also given a solid serum to try called Full of Grace. I have simply been rubbing a little between my fingers to melt then smoothing on my face. Unfortunately this is too heavy for me but would suit someone with fairly dry skin. It’s packed with Murumuru butter which is produced from a plant native to Brazil and it’s highly moisturing!
I’ve also enjoyed using H’suan Wen Hua hair moisturiser! Try saying that drunk! 😉
It’s really good for the dry ends to my hair because you put this on dry hair, leave for 20 mins (treat yourself, have a cup of tea and a Jaffa cake!), then shampoo out! Simple!
Hair then doesn’t get stripped of all moisture leaving softer locks!
I was also impressed with the Coconutty solid shampoo that is Trichomania! It’s rich and delicious smelling! I just rub it on to wet hair and lather away! Heavenly!
I also purchased (not a free sample) a Charity Pot! You can read about it in my previous post!
I started reviewing it here then realised the charity element to some Lush products needed and indeed deserved a post of their own!
So I wrote that and decided to publish this one a bit later!
Since realising that my beloved L’Oreal Revitalift SPF 30 moisturiser was making my face shine like a bowl of melted butter under my make up by 10am everyday, I have been on a look out for a new one!
I loved Lush Imperialis moisturiser but it has no SPF in it! I will go back to that one in the winter when I can let my heavier foundation base take the weak rays from the sun.
For now I decided to try Boots Botanics Shine Away Mattifying Gel Cream which has SPF 15.
It claims to provide moisture whilst controlling shine on oily skin. It also has clarifying willow bark to calm the complexion.
The packaging is a clean and simple plastic jar, nothing too amazing but then the product is only £3.49!
The product itself is a heavy opaque white gel, which is nice and cooling on the face and neck! I should imagine this would be absolutely heavenly straight from the fridge on a hot day!
It’s spreads easily and takes a bit of massaging in before it vanishes into the skin!
It moisturises well, even on my dry patches!
I find though that my face still gets a shine to it before I get to eat my luncheon at 1pm. It’s less of an oil slick granted but the Imperialis kept my face virtually shine free for most of the day!
I also can’t say it has calmed any blemishes but it also hasn’t made them worse.
All in all I wouldn’t purchase again myself but I will see it through to the end of the pot and it would make an awesome summer moisturiser for someone with a normal skin type!
You can find it here to purchase!
