As you may recall in a post I wrote a few weeks back, I was invited by Lush Cambridge to come and have a chat about hair and skin care.
I’ve had a good few weeks of properly trying out some of the samples they sent me on my way with! There have been some absolute winners and only one product that didn’t work well on me.
Skin care wise I’m absolutely still in love with the Imperialis moisturiser! It sinks in beautifully, moisturising my face and neck but also stops my makeup slipping around! As it’s got no SPF in it I will repurchase this come winter.
I was also given a solid serum to try called Full of Grace. I have simply been rubbing a little between my fingers to melt then smoothing on my face. Unfortunately this is too heavy for me but would suit someone with fairly dry skin. It’s packed with Murumuru butter which is produced from a plant native to Brazil and it’s highly moisturing!
I’ve also enjoyed using H’suan Wen Hua hair moisturiser! Try saying that drunk! 😉
It’s really good for the dry ends to my hair because you put this on dry hair, leave for 20 mins (treat yourself, have a cup of tea and a Jaffa cake!), then shampoo out! Simple!
Hair then doesn’t get stripped of all moisture leaving softer locks!
I was also impressed with the Coconutty solid shampoo that is Trichomania! It’s rich and delicious smelling! I just rub it on to wet hair and lather away! Heavenly!
I also purchased (not a free sample) a Charity Pot! You can read about it in my previous post!
I started reviewing it here then realised the charity element to some Lush products needed and indeed deserved a post of their own!
So I wrote that and decided to publish this one a bit later!
Not my usual style post coming up!
I’m a sucker for a loud engine and am nuts for history so I was pretty pleased to go to Duxford for the D-Day Anniversary air show!
As you can see above we saw the best the British Military can offer with not only the Apache helicopter but also the Eurofighter Typhoon! The most amazing things I have seen in ages!
Apparently the Eurofighter pilot would be experiencing forces of 3 & 1/2 G and his body would weigh 9 times more than normal during some of its outrageous manoeuvres!
Also on show were the machines that helped to win the war such as Spitfires, Hercules and a B17 Flying Fortress!
There was a mocked dog fight with Spitfires and Messerschmitts!
I also got to see some demonstrations by the Military Police and spoke to the amazing field medics from the Army!
There were so many stands that I thought I might get recruited if I didn’t move! 🙂
I saw the Living History Group too which basically involved a mocked up 1940’s pub with some faux soldiers playing darts inside! Also a mocked up Anderson shelter next door!
All in all it was a spectacular day and reminds me to be thankful not only to the D-Day veterans but also those people I take for granted in the armed forces who keep us free every day!
Ps I would have got a photo of the Eurofighter Typhoon but it was impossible and I just got photos of sky! 🙂
One product that I picked up on my previous trip to Lush has amazed me! This one I actually purchased myself and was not a sample.
It’s the Charity Pot!
Every single penny goes to charity and I think the fox on the tub tugged at my heart!
Please check out the amazing charity pot here!
Not only is it moisturising and leaves me smelling like chocolate it’s the best reason I’ve ever seen to spend your money! It supports so many worthy but less well known charities!
Next on my Lush list to buy is the May Day bath bomb shaped like a badger! These sweet little bombs are helping to support a charity called the Save Me Trust set up by Doctor Brian May.
This charity aims to help save badgers from ineffective culls and to set up vaccination against bovine TB instead!
Go get one and help not only the badgers but cattle too!
Read more here!
So here is May’s Glossybox! It’s been put together in collaboration with Superdrug.
I’m pretty pleased with the contents but may be giving some of the products to my sister!
I was super hoping to get the Max Factor primer that some folks got but alas it was not to be!
I’m looking forward to using the Frizz Ease serum because I’ve never used it before!
So I recently had the amazing opportunity to attend the “Make your mark” event put on by the London Assay office for aspiring jewellers. This event put lots of contacts, trade stands, talks etc all in one place!
I spent the last few months attending a silver jewellery course where I have learnt the basics of silver smithing for jewellery making!
I attended with the rest of my class and met a few few folks from the advanced class too!
The event was held at Goldsmith Hall where I just fell in love with the fancy-ness of the building!
I didn’t realise until I left that you weren’t meant to take photos! Oops!
After we left the event we headed off to the Hatton Garden area of London which is a jewellery lovers paradise! I didn’t know where to look!
I also purchased some unearthly and beautiful looking labradorite beads and a string of in your face 10mm round opalite beads!
I then had the most amazing lunch at a place down Leather Lane called Tongue & Brisket!
They do sandwiches, but they are the most amazing sandwiches stuffed with the meat of your choice!
I went for chicken schnitzel on rye bread and had a side of chips, but the salt beef and roast turkey looked amazing too!
I think it was family run which only makes it cooler!
I need to go back there for sure! Mmmmmmm……..
Anyway here are a few pics from the day! Scroll to the bottom for sandwich pay off! 😉
Well just check out this little beaut of a subscription box!
Birchbox have collaborated with Harper’s Bazaar for their May box and have designed a box for outdoor beauty.
It says in the details that “You’ll find samples to take you from a country walk to a musical festival- and everything in between”!
This box also comes with a magazine with beauty tips from
Harper’s Bazaar and Birchboxes own team!
In my box I had a Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot cloth Cleanser! I have been wanting to try this for some time!
Also included is a mascara that I have been dying to get my hands on and that’s the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara! This sample size is normally worth about £10 so that’s your subscription money back before you even look at the other products included!
There’s a fancy pants looking full size Soigné Nail Lacquer in a red colour called “pomegranate”!
These are toxic free apaz!
Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath and Shower Oil sample! It smells divine and really essential oil-ish if you get my drift! This smells like it’s gonna work properly at reviving your body during a nice hot bath!
Lastly there are a mini shampoo and conditioner exclusive to Birchbox called Beauty
Protector! I’m saving these bad boys for my jaunts to France later in the year!
This is by far the best box I have received in a long while and can safely say that I’m looking forward to using every item in it!
It’s an absolute peach! 🙂
Continuing with my Jamie Oliver food obsession here is my go at one of his 15 Minute Meals!
Delicious chicken poached in a beautiful broth, vegetables, rice and an amazing fiery chocolate chilli sauce!
Yes I said chocolate chilli sauce! It’s got spring onions, chilli, garlic, dried ancho chilli, peanut butter, dark chocolate and even a bit of fresh banana! Weird but most delish!
Check out episode 39 of Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals here!
